The Other Day…V6, #024, The Blend

Okay, I can see where someone might think, by using this title, that I might be talking about music or some type of coffee, cigar, or cigarette (Yuck), but no, I’m going to be discussing tea flavorings and how I blended two types of Celestial Seasonings tea together to make a new drink. I believe I may be on to something here, so I wanted to share my new creation with all of you.

Step One: If you don’t have them, go to the store and purchase Celestial Seasonings Tea flavors Apple Cinnamon Spice & Bengal Spice. Alone, they are both very good. However, mixed together, they are heavenly. I realize there are many people who don’t like strong doses of “spice” in anything; therefore, I would suggest you try each flavor separately before you try them together.

Step Two: Add your sweetener of choice. Normally, I use Stevia. However, this past week I saw a warning for those with A-fib that too much stevia wasn’t good for the heart. However, I am also treated as a diabetic patient, so it’s a matter of either using that or using a sweetener that has the ability to cause cancer.  What’s a person to do?  If there is something safer to use out there, let me know, please.

Step Three: Add water. In today’s world, I use a water filter.  I suggest if you are wavering on using a filter or not, find a tap in your house that has no filter and fill a clean glass with your tap water. Now, hold it up to the light. (Sunlight works best). If you see what I think you will see, you will understand why I use a water filter.  Also, I was somewhere once where my tap water had a funky smell. That’s another good reason to use a filter.

Last Step:  I always use a large cup, usually 16 to 20 ounces, in order to get the most out of my tea bags. I put the mug in the microwave and set the timer for 2:15. That’s two minutes and fifteen seconds. If you are making two cups, like I usually do, then it’s 4:30.

You should know that there are a couple of drawbacks to using a microwave oven to make your tea. One of the big ones is, don’t forget you put your tea in the microwave. We won’t talk about how many times I’ve done that.  If that happens to you, once you finally remember, just hit the one-minute button to reheat. Now, if you repeatedly forget and have to reheat the tea so many times in a row that your significant other eventually asks you where in the world their tea is, you might get a little embarrassed.  Sorry, Honey.

Now, I understand this spicey combination of tea is not for everyone. I just know my wife, and I really like it. Also, one downside to making this combo is that you blow through a serious amount of tea bags. So, if you are the type who likes to reuse a single tea bag, this might not be a good fit for you. I just know it’s worth it to me because my wife and I enjoy the tasty, comforting goodness.

Hey, I wonder if this goes viral, if Celestial Seasonings would consider sponsoring my blog? (Hey, I can dream).  Join me next time as we ponder that thought and many other universally complex situations.  In the meantime, why not try a new tea combination and relax a little bit?   I’ll be seeing you.  MUH!!
