The Other Day…V5, #120, Road Trip, Magic Kingdom, 2022!

You might think it’s silly to take a road trip in December because of the holiday season kicking in.  However, December 12 is a very special day for my wife and me.  So, The Other Day…, we decided to take a trip to that magical place called Disney World to have a celebration. Now that we are back home, having traveled new routes, we realized that the most direct route to Florida and Disney World is through Charlotte.  The next time we go, that is the route we will take.  Other people and map apps may mean well, but the ideas they suggest don’t always pan out, so next time, we will stick with the way we know best.

Anyway, the trip there was one of the best ideas we could have had.  Disney World is wonderful this time of year with the giant decorated trees, the tinsel, the lights, and the music. It’s fantastic.  However, the best part of this trip was visiting with my sister-in-law and her grand kids. When we stopped at Joyce’s house in Florida, we had no idea what we were in for, but it turned out to be the best day ever!  First, my nephew shows up with his three boys.  Two of the boys were more than enough entertainment for my wife and me.  They broke out their toys and spread them throughout the entire house.  Later that day, my niece came by with her child.  That’s when pandemonium really ensued. Yes, it was chaotic, but it was also wonderful.  There is really nothing like seeing the excitement on children’s faces.  That must be why we old folks like being grandparents so much.  I have to say that I don’t know how my sister-in-law keeps up with everything and everyone, though, when they pay her a visit. I got tired just watching.

Getting back to the trip…, that Monday was our anniversary, and we went to Tony’s Restaurant ( featured in Lady and the Tramp).  I found a Lady and the Tramp heart-shaped pin there, which my wife wore. We had a wonderful dinner, though the place was a bit noisy and louder than I would have liked, we had a good time anyway.

One of the nice things about staying in a hotel at Disney World is that it’s just a monorail ride away from anywhere you happen to go in order to get back to your room.  However, that evening we decided to walk from the Magic Kingdom back to our hotel so that we could take in some of the park ambiances this time of year.  There was something about just slowing down and taking it all in that made it more memorable and enjoyable.  So, to say we had a wonderful time while we were there is an understatement.

The trip was great, and talking to y’all is great, but it is time for me to go and get to work.  I hope that you all enjoyed your holidays, got all you wished for and more, and were able to spend it with loved ones, near and far.  That’s what makes the holidays special.  MUH!!
