Acts of kindness are rare. Many of them are spur of the moment, and you don’t expect them. In my case, I witnessed this one; I didn’t participate. It was so cool to see, I thought I would take a moment to share it with everyone.
The Other Day…, I had just dropped my wife off at work and was on my way back to the house. I was in a pretty busy part of town, and cars were rushing back and forth when, right smack dab in the middle of the craziness, there was a lone turtle, trying to cross the road. I don’t know why he was trying to make it across the road. Did he have a pressing meeting or maybe a date? There is a city park on the other side of the road. Perhaps he wanted to cross and play on the monkey bars or the swings, I just don’t know. Maybe he was like the proverbial chicken, and he just wanted to get to the other side. Whatever he was trying to do, he wasn’t going to make it. There was so much traffic, and there was no way that little guy would make it through everything while on his morning stroll.
Next thing I knew, this older-looking pick-up truck pulled over in front of the turtle’s path, and a big, burly man got out of the truck and carried that turtle to the other side of the crosswalk. Now, what do you think of a complete stranger who would stop and collect this turtle and deliver it to safety? I don’t know what caused this man to stop; however, I believe it was extremely thoughtful, and I was glad I was there to see it. It’s nice to know there are still everyday people out there who are doing little acts of kindness like that.
I wasn’t smart enough to take a video of the entire ordeal, but then again, maybe it’s better I didn’t. After all, I was driving, and that could be seen as distracted driving. Besides, maybe the gentleman did it because he was just a kind, generous soul, and he wouldn’t want to see himself on Facebook or Twitter. I don’t know anything about that. I just thought it was a kind gesture, and it made my day. I thought y’all might like reading about it. I’m sure wherever that little turtle is, he is very grateful.
Until the next time, enjoy your day, and remember to be kind to one another. MUH!!
